Reduce your risk of injury from falls by improving your balance, helping to reduce the severity of injury when you do fall, and by making the body more resistant to falls in general. 3. Improve your metabolism, helping you to lose weight and fat. 4. Improve your mood through an increase of endorphins circulating through your body. PLUS, many people fee motivated to continue working out by the changes they see after just a short amount of time of consistent strength training.

Getting started... There are many different ways to practice strength training. You can lift weights, take a BodyPump class, or even just use your own body weight like in Pilates, Yoga, and Barre classes. The most important thing is that you practice correct form. If you're not sure what the correct form is, ask for help! You can work with a trainer, talk to your group fitness instructor, or even find a gym buddy you trust!
